Gold: the published per-gram rate at the applicable volume tier is multiplied by the verified payable weight for each karat.

Silver: the posted rate for the verified fineness or bullion size is applied to the verified payable quantity. Non-silver components are handled separately. Prices follow the market and are updated regularly. No hidden fees — all payment methods deliver the same final amount. Free appraisal, no obligation to sell.

Real Payout Scenarios

How Much Will I Get? Real Examples

Here are three common scenarios using today's posted buying rates.

Scenario 1

The Jewelry Drawer Cleanout

A seller brings in a mix of jewelry: two 14K gold rings (combined 8g), one broken 18K chain (4g), and a 10K bracelet (6g). Total combined weight: 18 grams — Standard tier (under 25g).

  • 14K at Standard rate ($91.17/g): 8g × $91.17 = $729.36
  • 18K at Standard rate ($119.08/g): 4g × $119.08 = $476.32
  • 10K at Standard rate ($63.07/g): 6g × $63.07 = $378.42
Estimated Total: $1,584.10

Final amount confirmed after free XRF testing at our location. Rates shown are from July 15, 2026.

Scenario 2

A Single Heavy Chain

A seller brings in one 18K gold chain weighing 32 grams — Premium tier (25–50g).

  • 18K at Premium rate ($120.58/g): 32g × $120.58 = $3,858.56
Estimated Total: $3,858.56

32 grams qualifies for the Premium volume tier rate across the entire piece.

Scenario 3

Estate Collection

A seller brings in an inherited collection: assorted gold jewelry totaling 65 grams across multiple karats (mixed 14K and 18K). Total combined weight: 65 grams — Highest tier (over 50g).

  • Blended Rate: ~ $107/g effective average at Highest tier across mixed karats.
Estimated Range: $6,900 – $7,950

This is why bringing everything in one visit matters — 65 grams qualifies for the best tier on all pieces.

Pricing Questions

Where Our Prices Come From

How the posted buying rates on this page are sourced and calculated.

Where do FairGold Montreal's gold and silver prices come from?
FairGold Montreal uses MetalPriceAPI as its external reference for gold and silver market data. MetalPriceAPI aggregates rates from a global network of trading sources and institutions, reconciles differences and filters anomalies. FairGold combines that market reference with verified purity, payable weight, item type and volume tier to calculate posted buying rates and final offers.
Are FairGold Montreal's prices supplied directly by LBMA or COMEX?
No direct LBMA, COMEX or CME feed is claimed. LBMA benchmark prices, London over-the-counter bullion trading and COMEX/CME futures are important reference points in the global precious-metals market, but MetalPriceAPI does not identify the exact exchange or institution behind every pricing update.

Getting Your Estimate

How do I know how much my gold is worth before I come in?
Find your karat and gram weight in the sample payout table above to get an approximate number based on today's posted rates. If you do not know the karat, look for a hallmark stamp on the piece (417 = 10K, 585 = 14K, 750 = 18K, 916 = 22K). If there is no stamp, bring the piece in — our XRF test confirms the exact karat at no charge.
Does the weight I measure at home match what FairGold pays on?
It should be close, but the payable weight is the weight of the actual precious metal after XRF — stones, clasps, and non-metal parts are excluded. A ring with a large stone will weigh more at home than its payable gold weight. Bring it in and we separate the payable metal during the appraisal.
Does the karat on the stamp always match the XRF reading?
Usually yes, but not always. Older pieces, repaired jewelry, and items made to non-North American standards can test slightly above or below the hallmark. XRF reads the actual composition — if a piece stamps 14K but tests at 15.2K, you are paid at 15.2K. If it tests at 13.8K, you are paid at 13.8K. The reading is what determines your offer, not the stamp.
Can I get a price over the phone or by email before I come in?
Yes — call 514-234-0192 or send photos and an estimated weight to get a preliminary range. Note that a phone estimate is based on the weight and karat you provide, before XRF confirmation. The final offer is always based on the in-person XRF test and weigh-in, which is free and takes under 30 minutes.
